April YP of the Month
With just a few weeks away until Cannonball AND our Season Launch party, we’re stocking up on Kleenex here at CYPT, because between the pride of watching our kids write /direct their own plays and the annual “goodbye to the grads” part of Season Launch, we know we’re gonna need them. One of our kids will be making us weep twice the tears because she’s directing her own show as part of Cannonball AND graduating this year. Luckily, we’ve got her working on our 2018 Outpatient Collective show, so we’re not quite done with her yet. This dynamic young woman is a fearless performer and creator, with a powerful stage presence and a scream that will make your spleen explode. And who is this daring darling of dramatic doings?
April’s YP of the Month is none other than,
Abby Hunter!!!
Abby Hunter has been with CYPT for nearly three years now, first hitting their stage in the outpatient collective’s Atlantis, as an off-the-hinges prisoner. Since then Abby has consistently and happily played the femme fatale or the badass in her CYPT’s productions. Racking up a total of 4 productions with CYPT, Abby has now moved from onstage to backstage. Trying her hand at writing and directing this year, Abby is a member of the 2018 outpatient collective, and has self-written a piece, Home To McMillen, which will be performed in the 2018 Cannonball festival.
She is so unbelievably thankful to the people at CYPT, who took an out of control, whirlwind child and found a place for her. Regardless of where life takes her, she will always keep theatre with her. The people she met working with this company are more than indispensable to her, they are family, and she leaves this year with a heavy heart and a promise, that every single member of CYPT is welcome in her home, her heart, and her life at a moments notice.
“The wonderful thing about theatre, is that it teaches and encourages us to accept the things about ourselves the rest of the world tells us to reject.”
-Abby Hunter
