Abby has been an actor from a VERY early age, first taking on the role of baby Jesus at just 3 months old, in a local nativity story. Abby has since grown as an actor and performed in nearly two dozen onstage productions, and taken a place backstage in 4. Abby’s love of theatre has never wavered and has only grown in her years onstage. Playing no small part in fostering and nurturing her love, was CYPT.

Abby Hunter has been with CYPT for nearly three years now, first hitting their stage in the outpatient collective’s Atlantis, as an off-the-hinges prisoner. Since then Abby has consistently and happily played the femme fatale or the badass in her CYPT’s productions. Racking up a total of 4 productions with CYPT, Abby has now moved from onstage to backstage. Trying her hand at writing and directing this year, Abby is a member of the 2018 outpatient collective, and has self-written a piece, Home To McMillen, which will be performed in the 2018 Cannonball festival.

Now 17, Abby’s place in CYPT has helped her to grow, not only as an actor, but as a human being. She can now boast to be Captain of the William Aberhart improv team, and is soon on her way to King’s College in Halifax to study. Thanks to the confidence, interpersonal skills and language, given to her by working in theatre.

She is so unbelievably thankful to the people at CYPT, who took an out of control, whirlwind child and found a place for her. Regardless of where life takes her, she will always keep theatre with her. The people she met working with this company are more than indispensable to her, they are family, and she leaves this year with a heavy heart and a promise, that every single member of CYPT is welcome in her home, her heart, and her life at a moments notice.
