March YP of the Month

March’s YP of the Month is…

Taylor Marsden!!!

Taylor was introduced to the wild and wacky world of The Calgary Young People’s Theatre for the first time in the summer of 2016, with her first ever summer camp. The camp was a fantastic experience that influenced her for approximately two weeks before she immediately forgot about it for the next four years. It wasn’t until the summer of 2020 that Taylor finally made the long traverse to the Calgary unitarian church once again for another CYPT camp. And this time it truly stuck. She was hooked. Taylor worked on her first CANNONBALL FESTIVAL as an ASM that very summer. After the incredible experience she jumped at the chance to Stage Manage a show at Cannonball the very next year with HOW TO MAKE SMALL TALK AT A WEDDING. This was what truly sucked her into the theatre world thanks to an incredible cast and crew (although she isn’t quite sure about the director). This propelled her into several mainstage productions including ASMing shows like A LITTLE PRINCESS, THE POISON SQUAD, and CLUE as well as a return to the cannonball festival to Stage Manage MAGIC. She even began to act in shows like THE CANTERVILLE GHOST and SOMEDAY. Now she’s preparing for her third show as an actor as Tim in THE INNER WORKINGS OF A CONCERT FLUTE. You can also look forward to her directorial debut in THE LOCO-MOTIVE, a play she co-wrote with her friend Anaya. Taylor is eternally grateful to the whole CYPT community for their support as well as the many incredible theatrical opportunities. There are far too many people who have helped and influenced her to name here but she is incredibly happy to have gotten to meet them all and is very excited to work with many new people in the future. All in all Taylor is very happy to have had the chance to help create some of CYPT’s signature theatrical magic and hopes to continue to create that magic for the next year and even carry that past her graduation into her adult life.

“What’s the similarity between a red apple and a green apple?” “They’re both red except the green one.”
