March YP of the Month
We love watching kids grow over the years, from wee little summer camp kids into the fine actors that appear in our productions. Seeing the growth in our March YP of the month has been easy, partially because he’s like nine feet tall now, but mostly because every time he steps on stage, he bests himself. He is an extremely talented actor with an ability to magically transform between wildly different characters with ease. Perhaps most impressively, he brings heart and depth to the silliest characters and a twinkle and a laugh to the darkest characters, the mark of a very strong actor. We’re so lucky to have him in our family. And who is this kind, capable, and cunning chameleon of characterization?
March’s YP of the Month is none other than,
Jack Storwick!!!!
In the summer of 2005, a young lad by the name of Jack Storwick followed his sister Amanda into a CYPT acting summer camp… and hasn’t left the CYPT community since.
Jack has done every sort of role with CYPT, from a donut shop version of Macbeth (“is this a pair of donut frying tongs I see before me”), to (and most recently) an idiot rabbi with a grudge against crayfish (“DROWN THE CRAYFISH”). Although Jack has only done three official shows with this wonderful company (The Sleepy Hollow Project, Richard III, Village of Idiots), and only one other show with another company (A Christmas Carol, Theatre Calgary, Young Scrooge / Graveyard boy, 2012 – 2014) you can bet your bottom dollar he did a whole lot of ‘em at the summer camps. This is Jacks 11th year in a row with CYPT, and he wishes dearly he could have had more, for they have given him some of the best moments of his life.
Jack’s hobbies and lifestyle include playing shoot ‘em ups, marathoning “Doctor Who” every chance he can get, and listening to “The Beatles” on the bus ride to, and from, school, and just about here, there, and everywhere. How does he fit all of these activities in his 15 year old lifestyle and attend his 10th grade year at Bishop Carroll?? Your guess is as good as his.
Jack would like to thank his family for going to all the shows (yes even the summer camp ones), and especially his parents for driving him everywhere when he needs to act. Jack would also like to thank, of course, Jamie, Kristin, and all the wonderful people at CYPT who have inspired him to keep on acting, and keep on believing in himself, and have encouraged him so much along the way.
“There is always a glass that is half empty, and half full. Extremists look at it as one or the other, but you have to look at it as both. When you do so, you may just live the true way of the world”
-Jack Storwick
