February YP of the Month

Happy Snowmageddon, or as we call it in Canada, “winter!”

While some of us huddle up in our houses staying warm, our intrepid Peter Pan cast are busy at work for next month’s show.  Carrying a good deal of the load is the actor playing Wendy, who is also our YP of the Month.  This sweet young lady has been gracing our stages for years, and she’s always a treat to have the in rehearsal hall.  She brings a wealth of talent, positivity, and leadership to our stage and we feel so lucky to have her.  And who is this perfectly plucky player of people?

February’s YP of the Month is none other than,

Izzy Laesecke!!!

Although Izzy has not been with CYPT for very long, it feels like a lifetime. It was the summer of 2015 when she walked, shaking, into her very first audition. She said the first line of her monologue, and all of her nervousness melted away. It was later that year when she made her debut as a rebel in the outpatient show Atlantis, which makes it even more crazy that now, she is a member of the Outpatient Collective.

Since then, Izzy has taken part in shows Life in The Realm (Cannonball 2016), War of the Worlds (2016), Macbeth (2017), The Fan (2017), and most recently, Peter Pan (which will be showing in March 2018)

CYPT has been such an important part of Izzy’s young adult life, it’s helped her make friends, come out of her shell as both an actor and person, and undoubtedly has shaped her into a woman ready to take on the world.

But of course, she has to credit this all to one person. Jonas Swain, who was the driving factor in her attending a cypt summer camp, and later, convincing her to audition, so thanks Jonas.  Izzy would also like to give a huge figurative round of applause to all the amazing, creative, intelligent people that make the gears of CYPT turn (they know who they are), for making her feel like she’s a part of something greater.

“I think I like acting so much because it lets me escape my own life and problems. I get to become a completely different person, and leave everything that’s troubling me behind, even if it’s only for a few hours, and that’s truly magical.”

-Izzy Laesecke
