August YPs of the Month

Wowie! We here at CYPT are always delighted to have the joy of working with so many talented young people – so many, in fact, that we are going to celebrate not one, not three, but TWO graduates that just finished up a fantastic run of The Hunting of the Snark. August’s YPs of the Month are…

Sophie Myers and Nathan Furst!!!

Sophie has not been a part of the CYPT community for very long, but her time in it has been excellent nonetheless. Her first show was Locomotive as a part of the 2024 Cannonball! Festival, where she acted the part of a dirty-mouthed Quebecois dancer. Sophie is always an extremely busy person, between acting in and costuming her school’s shows, the wonderful world of academia, and rock climbing, as well as her many and varied creative endeavours. When she heard that the 2025 summer production would be the Hunting of the Snark, Sophie immediately jumped at her last chance to be in a CYPT show! She is now starring as Boots in the aforementioned play, and is positively euphoric to be rejoining the community for the final time before she leaves the city for university in the fall. She looks back fondly at her brief but wonderful experience with CYPT, and looks forward to pursuing her acting and costume design dreams, fondly carrying the memories of her time as a part of the CYPT community with her!

“THE HUNTING OF THE SNARK!! Oh my goodness I can tell you EVERYTHING about Lewis Carroll and Alice in Wonderland and DID YOU KNOW-“

– Sophie Myers

Although Nathan has only been a member of CYPT for about a year, the amount of incredible memories that he has gotten from it makes it feel like he’s been doing it for years. He started his theatre journey in grade 10 with his school’s production of Little Shop of Horrors but started his CYPT journey with 2024’s A Monster Calls. Since then he has been in the 2025 Cannonball show That I May Cease to Be and in the 2025 show The Hunting of the Snark (an agony in eight fits). He has loved CYPT and the experiences that he has gotten from acting with them, and hopes that while he may be going to university in the fall, he will still be able to call CYPT a home away from home.

Nathan would like to thank his friends that he has made at CYPT for their incredible support and welcoming to him when he was new to CYPT, and wishes them all best in everything they decide to do in the future.

“We’ll burn that bridge when we get to it.”

– Nathan Furst
