About Fok Ethan

Out of a numbered list of things that Ethan deems fun, music is certainly one of them, even though he got into music in quite an unorthodox way. Ethan started music when he was 6, with the cello, calling him not the biggest fan of it would be an understatement, after some years, he switched to rock drumming and was a huge fan of it, it was the most fun he had with music ever. Coming into high school his parents wanted him to be in PVA band because they thought it would be pretty fun for him even though he had had no previous experiences with anything percussion other than the drumset. But somehow, he got in. Grade 10 was a struggle as he had to learn how to do percussion, but with a lot of help from teachers and plenty of practice, he eventually got the hang of it. In grade 11, he increased his commitment to music by joining the vocal jazz group at his school and choosing tougher parts in pieces he played in the school band. He saw improvements in all aspects of music playing and won the Excellence in Band Award that year. Ethan hopes to be an example for people with similar backgrounds and motivate others to try new things through his story.
