3) Will my child be put in groups of children who are much older or younger than they are?
The first day of camp, children are separated into groups according to their age or grade in school. Our student to teacher ratio is 12:1 for full day drama camp and 8:1 for half day drama camps.
4) What do the children do all day?
The day starts out with an entire group warm-up led by one of our instructors. Then your children are off to workshops in the morning covering various theatrical skills including voice and music, movement and choreography, storytelling and play writing, stage combat improvisation and character work among other skills. In the afternoons, children will spend time with one instructor developing a play that is created by the children and performed at the end of the week for friends and family. During lunch, everyone goes outside for supervised play, relaxation, games and fresh air. At the end of the day, the entire camp comes back together for drama Olympics!
Half day campers spend their morning with one instructor and a camp assistant, learning various theatrical skills that culminate in a presentation for friends and family.
If your teen is in either the improv camp, stage make-up or stage combat camps, they will be spending all week exploring various aspects of the specific camp through exercises, games, skill building and practical application.
5) Who are your staff members and instructors?
Summer drama camp instructors include professional actors, writers, directors, and teachers with university and college degrees and post secondary students.
