November YP of the Month

We love when CYPT kids get to try out different kinds of roles. It’s fun to see their range. But sometimes, kids really nail a particular kind of role, and get cast in similar roles often, as has happened with our November YP of the Month. This guy has played a lot of villains. A LOT. It probably has something to do with his amazing “evil laugh,” which is an artform all to itself. But this month, we are excited to say he’ll be performing in our 2018 Outpatient Collective show, Wayward, in a new kind of role for him! Oh, and one that ISN’T a super-villain… or IS he? It’s a murder mystery, so I guess you’ll have to find out.

This young man has been with us a long time, and it’s always a pleasure to harness his wacky and playful energy in service of the shows he’s been in. His love of the stage just radiates from every pore, and the energy and enthusiasm he brings set the bar for the entire cast. We love working with him and can’t wait to see him steal the stage once more. And who is this awesome actor and astonisher of audiences? November’s YP of the Month is none other than…

Zachary Bruvold!!!

Zachary Bruvold. The man. The myth. The not-so but also somewhat impressive legend. What can I say about this dude except the sheer fact that he came across all of this on a whim and that there was even a chance that he could have missed all of this both amazes and terrifies him.

Now if you wouldn’t mind, allow me to tell the story of this one skinny kid. It all began in the summer of 2012. Zach was 11 at the time and was just being a loud obnoxious brat, with his mom just wanting to get him out of the house. So she rolled up her sleeves and she took to the internet and signed him up for a two week summer camp, which lead to him auditioning for his first play, The Bridge. He played the evil, horribly disfigured Dark Prince which lit the fire for Zach’s love of acting. A fire that would push him to stick with CYPT through multiple summer camps, lessons and other plays changing into all kinds of crazy characters along the way, like the wizard/dragon/king he played in a charming show Medieval Myths and Legends, the simple-minded and yet utterly terrifying, psychopathic Russian teacher known as Pavlov who just wanted to slaughter every single child in sight in the amazing show Grounded, or the wild bombastic, utterly pathetic, magnetically-powered Electro who just wanted to find love in the hilarious show Love Life of Electro.

Ok y’all might wanna prepare yourselves, cuz it’s about to get real sincere up in this blog. I’m going to drop the 3rd person for a bit as well. If it wasn’t for CYPT and the amazing people who work here, I honestly don’t believe I would be half the man I am today which admittedly isn’t that much but hey I’m working my way up there. Seriously, I’m so grateful for the amazing experiences and opportunities I’ve been given, and the people I’ve been able to meet along the way have made it worth it ten times over.

It’s hard to really to sum up everything that CYPT has done for me after all these years but if I had to I guess I’d say just a simple thank you.

Thank you for giving this loud obnoxious kid the chance to grow, to make friends, to try new things and learn to just be himself. Thank you.
