September YP of the Month
September’s YP of the Month is…
Kate Noriega!!!
Kate started off her journey with CYPT in a summer camp many many years ago… like— 2021. So long. She was immediately entrapped in this wonderful universe of goofiness, colours, and woosh woosh woah. Of course, as a theatre kid in the making, she auditioned fall of that year and ended up in her first Mainstage show: Friends of Mine & The Tuesday Crew. That spring, even though the show was shut down due to half of the cast being sick and multiple actors having fevers, it was an absolute blast of an experience. In April, halfway through the rehearsal process, she joined in Cannonball 2022 acting in Purloin: in the Company of Scoundrels, which became the point of no return.
She kept auditioning and ended up participating in a play and a musical over the next year. These were Real Boi, and The Poison Squad (wow this might just be that musical she mentioned a second a go). In fall of 2023 Kate joined her first devised piece: Someday, directed by Noah Boyle. The cast spent a full week aggressively moving plot points around, trying to think of themes, and generating stories like Karl the Duck with Chat GPT. In spring 2024, she acted as Maggie in The Ghost of Who Knows What (directed by the amazing Parker Painchaud and stage managed by Alexandria Lee). Coming this October, you may or may not look forward to The Frozen Deep— an absolutely amazing devised work (if she does say so herself) based on the play by Charles Dickens and the novel by Wilkie Collins.
There are at least a hundred other people who have kept Kate going and gotten her on the path she’s on, all of which would be too many to name in one sitting, so a simple THANK YOU ALL YOU’RE AMAZING will have to suffice for now. CYPT is genuinely the most safe and energetic group of people Kate could ever ask for, and she hopes to keep on working with them until her graduation year in 2028.
