June YP of the Month

June YP of the Month

Like many of our young artists, June’s YP of the Month is graduating from High School this year, and like many of our young artists, she is going on to pursue theatre at The University of Victoria!  Seriously, it’s just wild how many of our grads will be heading there next year.  And so, even though they don’t have to say goodbye to each other, we have to say goodbye to them.  June’s YP of the Month came to us back in 2013 as part of our Y Calgary Festival, and it took a few years for her to do her second show with us, but we are so glad she did.  This young woman is a ray of sunshine, bringing loads of positive energy, professionalism, and talent to every stage she steps on.  This year, when we had an unexpected need to fill a role in Peter Pan, this remarkable young woman stepped up to the plate with such enthusiasm and focus that it was as if she’d been there from day one.  She is a kind, intelligent, and skilled performer and we are so glad to have had her in our family.  And who is this captivating and charismatic creator of characters?  June’s YP of the month is…

Taylor Williams!!!

Taylor got her start with CYPT way back in 2013 as part of the Y Calgary Festival. Although she had a wonderful time, she got a little lost along the way, and didn’t make it back to CYPT until last year’s Cannonball Festival. Once Taylor got a taste of CYPT in The Chip on Your Shoulder, she was hooked! Since then, Taylor has acted in The Fan, Grounded, Peter Pan, and Home to McMillen. Although Taylor won’t be acting in any more shows at CYPT, she is thrilled to be writing Wayward as part of the Outpatient Collective!

When she’s not at rehearsal, Taylor often spends her time reading, writing, and being late for things. (Seriously, it’s a chronic issue.) Next year, Taylor is headed west to study theatre at the University of Victoria! Needless to say, she’s a little nervous about finally growing up, but she’s even more excited about the countless adventures she’ll have!

Taylor would like to give a huge thanks to Anna Johnson, for everything. She would also like to offer a massive thank you to anyone and everyone who has supported her during her time at CYPT. This past year has had an undeniable impact on her life, and she will always hold a special place for CYPT in her heart!

“Theatre has allowed me to step into others’ shoes, and has given me the confidence to know which ones fit. Through pretending to be other people, I have become the best version of myself.”

-Taylor Williams
